We have an on-site Registered Social Worker and Reproductive Health Counselor. She helps patients cope with the difficult emotional challenges of infertility and coaches them to make healthy decisions regarding treatment choices and alternative family-building options including adoption.Our counselor's goal is to provide support to those experiencing the “roller coaster” of emotions related to nfertility and other life challenges. Counseling can help you process your feelings, put your situation into perspective, and explore new coping strategies. Counseling also helps individuals deal with loss and grief and gain insight into the psychological aspects of the complex world of assisted reproductive technologies.
Our counselor can see you pre-treatment, during treatment and after treatment.
It is well documented that infertility treatments are very stressful for patients. Studies have shown that seeing a counselor can help patients learn positive and healthy coping strategies that reduce their level of stress, increase satisfaction with overall infertility treatment and ultimately improve treatment outcomes.
Counseling fees are $100 plus HST per one hour session. (Appointments can be arranged through the reception desk).
Therapeutic Donor Insemination Counseling
ISIS views infertility counseling as an integral part of your overall Therapeutic Donor Insemination (TDI) treatment plan. A counseling session has therefore been included in the annual TDI management fee. The counselor will see you after you and your doctor decide to initiate the TDI process. If you require more than one counseling session per year, the cost of counseling sessions are $100 plus HST per one hour session.
The goal of TDI counseling is to help you (and your partner) in making an informed decision to treatment and to help to prepare you emotionally. This involves discussion of the immediate and long term psychological and social implications of using donor sperm.
IVF Counseling
ISIS views infertility counseling as an integral part of your overall IVF treatment plan. Two counseling sessions have therefore been included in the IVF Treatment Cycle fee: one session prior to your IVF cycle and one session post IVF cycle (positive or negative pregnancy test). If you require more than two counseling sessions, the cost of counseling sessions are $100 plus HST per one hour session.
