Some patients wish to have donor sperm from a known source. This may be from an informed relative or friend. This is called Known Donor Sperm Insemination. The process by which this is carried out is identical to that of Therapeutic Donor Insemination. Once a donor has been identified, this donor must comply with investigations for possible infectious diseases in the same manner as anonymous donors do. The process of carrying out the insemination is the same as for Therapeutic Donor Insemination.
