The Process: Initial workup and Assessments
Isis offers complete investigation of infertility including: consultation with a physician who specializes in infertility treatment. There are a number of tests that patients undergo including, hormonal blood work, ultrasound imaging and sperm assessment. Analysis of the tests allows the Isis team to recommend the ideal treatment plan. This may include immediate treatment, further investigation or surgery. Couples have access to counselors who can assist them in making decisions and who can support them throughout the process.

Once a patient has conceived Isis will set up all early obstetrical care. This includes early blood monitoring, early pregnancy ultrasounds, screening and finally a referral to a family doctor or obstetrician for the remainder of pregnancy care.

Ovulation Induction and Interuterine Insemination
Intrauterine insemination (IUI; also known as sperm wash) usually involves a two-step treatment for infertility. First, hormone therapy is used to improve the ovulatory response. Second, an optimally-prepared semen sample is deposited directly into the uterine cavity. This treatment is designed to increase both the number of eggs and the number of motile sperm which reach the fallopian tube (site of fertilization). Intrauterine insemination compensates for mild male factor and has provided success with cases of unexplained infertility. Bypassing the vagina and cervix can increase the number of motile sperm reaching the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Therapeutic Donor Insemination
Therapeutic donor insemination (TDI) involves the deposit of frozen-thawed donor semen into the uterus during the most fertile period of a woman's cycle. This process provides a relatively easy and inexpensive way to achieve pregnancy in a fertile woman.

In Vitro Fertilization
In vitro fertilization (IVF) has become a popular and successful treatment choice for a variety
of forms of infertility. This procedure involves removing eggs from the ovaries and inseminating them in a dish or tube containing defined culture media. Following fertilization and early embryo development, the embryos are returned to the uterus to continue their development and subsequent implantation.
